Image of HH 47 Jet in H-alpha
An HST image of the HH 47 outflow through an H-alpha filter.
In marked contrast to the [S II] image, the
body of the jet has all but disappeared leaving behind only a fine tracery of
faint wisps and filaments. A long streamer of H-alpha emission trails
behind HH 47A on its northwestern side eventually becoming lost in the
photoionized bright rim of the globule. The HH 47D bow shock is more prominent
in H-alpha and faint patches of emission can be seen far back along
its northwestern wing.
